Avian influenza now reported in Bhutan

The Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Livestock, Thimphu, Bhutan has reported an outbreak of H5N1 infection in free range chickens to the World Animal Health Information Database. This is the first outbreak in the country but is not surprising given that here have been outbreaks in neighbouring Bangladesh, West Bengal, Sikkim in India and Nepal.
