More human bird flu cases in Egypt

The Ministry of Health in Egypt has announced the 84th and 85th human cases of avian influenza A (H5N1) infection since the disease appeared in Egypt in 2006.
A 20 month old girl from the Monfia governorate in the Delta region has been infected by the virus as a result of contact with domestic poultry. She was admitted to hospital and will be transferred to Cairo to complete her treatment soon. The newest case is a 14 year old girl from the village of Damietta (North Delta), who became infected as a result of coming into contact with infected domestic birds. After the onset of symptoms and high temperature, the girl was admitted to hospital. At latest report the girl was in a stable condition.
The number of human fatalities form bird flu in Egypt remains 27.
